Visit: St.Patricks’s Day at The National Gallery
Wonder Works recently designed and produced the latest What’s On guide for our client the National Gallery of Ireland and it gave us a chance to get a sneak peak at some upcoming St. Patrick’s Festival celebrations. On March 18th The National Gallery will be part of UNESCO’s City of Literature Poetry Trail. The Words That Bind Us is a curated spoken word poetry trail around Dublin to celebrate the breadth and diversity of the city’s living poets.
Letterbomb is an exhibition of typography and lettering pieces on at the Copper House Gallery from February 28th until March 5th. The theme of the show is taboo and features new work from 18 Irish artists exploring the words we cannot say.
Celebrate: Moon Landing 50th Anniversary
A letterpress celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing will open this March at the National Print Museum. The exhibition will display a series of limited edition prints exploring the theme of the moon and produced through the medium of letterpress. The prints will be a mix of typography and illustration produced by students of the National College of Art and Design. Wonder Works has collaborated with the National Print Museum before and we admire their mission to promote a greater understanding of the historical significance and contemporary relevance of printing. We’re excited to see every new exhibition they host.
Celebrate: International Women's Day
In the lead up to this year’s Offset festival there seems to be more and more design events to attend. On March 8th for International Women's Day WhyDesign and the Institute of Designers Ireland will be hosting an event with Natasha Jen of Pentagram and Thierry Brunfaut of Base Design as they speak about their careers and discuss why balanced teams make better teams. WhyDesign events are aimed at practicing female and male creatives who want to build a more inclusive and successful Irish creative sector.
Victionary will also be publishing their latest book this March titled Design(hers): A celebration of women in design today. Victionary is a publishing house based in Hong Kong that produces books that explore the creative industry in all its aspects. All their books feature and showcase the latest production techniques and are beautiful examples of high quality print design.
Relax: Café at Indigo & Cloth
We’re excited to see the opening of a brand new café in Indigo & Cloth. After previously being run as a concession, they have taken over the café as their own. They have chosen an interesting concept to allow them to partner with different coffee brands throughout the year by following the fashion industries season’s of Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter, well after all, it is in a clothes shop! The café sits on the ground floor with window seating to gaze out onto the cobbled streets of Temple Bar while tucking into delicious treats from Bread Nation. Oh and of course we're appreciating the Café branding by Wonder Works’ very own Clare Aherne.
